CAKE FLAVOR: Banana Chocolate Chip
FILLING(S): Whipped Peanut Butter Buttercream
OUTER FROSTING: Italian Meringue Buttercream
DECOR: White Chocolate Drip and Fresh Flowers
This cake was made for a 30th birthday. The birthday girl requested a semi-naked cake with fresh flowers. I also found out that her favorite color was blush.
This was my first time doing a full arrangement on a cake. I have placed a few flowers on a wedding cake in the past but I still feel like this was a little different. One thing I didn't realize before making this cake was how much flowers cost. I went to a local flower shop and handpicked a few stems. I was definitely surprised how much it ended up costing. My mom is a florist, but I guess I never realized how much the flowers cost. Other than that, I enjoyed putting this cake together. I learned that it is important to wire and tape your flowers so that any water the flowers release will not go into the cake.
In the end, I loved the way this cake came out. It was simple but elegant. I think this design can go with any event really and it would be easy to change the colors.
