COOKIE FLAVOR: Grahm Cracker Cookie ADD INS: A Mixture of Semi-Sweet and Milk Chocolate, Creamy Peanut Butter TOPPINGS: Homemade Marshmallow This past Christmas, my family decided to do a cookie competition. Each competitor was told to make one cookie, NOT a bar, or a brownie, or a candy, it had to be a cookie. Also, you had to present your cookie in a creative way. The winner of this competition would receive $50 and bragging rights. Of course, I was very excited for this competition, one because I love baking and two because I am very competative.
It was tough trying to think of a unique cookie, I didnt want to make a normal chocolate chip cookie, it had to be different. I came up with the s'mores cookie becasue I love s'mores and I have always wanted to make homemade marshmallows. Also, I bought a blow torch that I had not used yet. So, I went with a s'mores cookie. The bottom of the cookie tastes similiar to a grahm cracker but slightly softer. Its made with molassas and brown sugar to give you that deep toasty flavor. Next I put a layer of creamy peanut butter. I wanted to bring in a salty flavor to counter act all the sweetness that was going to be on top. Oh and I knew my dad was one of the judges and he LOVES peanut butter....know your judges. =) Then, I put a layer of a semi-sweet and milk chocolate mixture. Finally I placed one of my homemade marshmallows, which turned out really good, on top while the chocolate was still runny so that it would stick. As for the toasting of the marshmallows, I waited to do that in front of the judges. I read a short poem I wrote and at the end I pulled out my blow torch and roasted the marshmallows right in front of their eyes. Let's just say, I became $50 richer that night. |
