CAKE FLAVOR: Red Velvet FILLING(S): Cream Cheese Frosting OUTER FROSTING: Italian Meringue Buttercream DECOR: Fondant and Rice Krispie Treats SIZE: 12" Graduation is always an exciting time for people. When a college friend approached me about making a cake for her dad's graduation, I knew it had to be a special one.
The graduation cap was the object that made me the most nervous to make. I made the bottom of the cap out of molded rice krispie treats covered in black fondant. The top of the cap was made from a fondant covered cardboard. I know cardboad isn't edible but I wasn't sure how to make something stiff enough to top the cap. I used a clay gun extruder to help create the tassle. |
