CAKE FLAVOR: Redvelvet Chocoalte Chip FILLING(S): White Chocoalte Cream Cheese Frosting OUTER FROSTING: Italian Meringue Buttercream DECOR: Fondant Details and a Cake Topper from Amazon SIZE: 6" Greg's sister was kindly throwing her friend a bridal shower and she asked me if I would make a Paris themed cake for the party. Of couse I said yes! As I searched on Pinterest for inspiration, I came across a design very similar to the one I created. I liked how simple and clean the cake was yet it went along with the Paris theme perfectly. I thought it would be a perfect cake for a bridal show since I would be able to add a monogram of the bride's soon-to-be last name.
At the beginning, I was stumped on how to create the detailed frame with the monogram. After using my good friend Google, I came up with a solution. This was my first time using a silicone mold while using fondant. I researched different techniques and many suggested sticking the mold into the freezer after you press in the fondant. I did just that, but I had to do it about 3 times beacause it kept breaking whenever I would try to pull it out of the mold. Other than that, I didn't run into any other issues. I was very happy with how sharp I was able to get my edges. If any of you are wondering how to do that, I highly suggest looking up watching this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ6lGLTdZPs. |
