My family had a Halloween party this year and of course everyone had to come in costume. I told my mom I would make a cake for the party. My family loves German chocolate cake but I'm not a huge fan, so I decided to make a turtle cake. I figured a turtle cake is similar to a German chocolate cake just without the coconut. Luckily everyone loved it.

For the design, I saw this technique all over Pinterest and wanted to try it out for myself. Basically you slightly heat up a bunch of marshmallow and then knead it back and forth between your fingers. Continue to do this until it gets stringy and lay it over the cake. My fingers got very sticky and it was kind of a messy project. I really liked how this technique turned out and it was really easy. I do wish I made the spiders a little better though. To me the look like chunks of coal with legs.

I included a few pictures from the party to show off some of the great costumes from that night.
